VOLT Circus Scratch
VOLT is one of the only Scratch Nights in the UK completely dedicated to circus. VOLT launched in 2013 at Circomedia in Bristol, where it is now held bi-annually for a growing loyal audience of circus lovers, makers and students. VOLT can host all kinds of circus; from juggling, rope and clowning as well as russian bar, teeterboard & swinging hoop.
Each VOLT night presents 4-5 pieces of early circus work with very little tech. The focus of this scratch night is dialogue and experiment, we are excited about the beginnings and possibilities of new work & sharing that with an audience for the first time. There is no fancy lighting and no smoke machine, it’s not a showcase event. What there will be is far more valuable than that for artists and audiences alike. There will be introductions, opportunities to chat and explore ideas with all sorts of people, drinks and exciting artists / companies sharing new ideas.
“An invaluable experience for all involved. create, attend and ensure this is an ongoing event” – Steven Allen (Previous VOLT Artist)
“VOLT is a great opportunity to realise ideas in a physical space, test them out with an engaged and intrigued audience and discuss ways of progressing the boundaries of our artforms” – Chez Dunford (Previous VOLT Artist)
