Update : AFFIX Interactive Playcube | Autumn 2014

Last year during the Ausform Microfest you may have caught the fantastic work of our Artist-in-residence: AFFIX.
AFFIX is the creative initiative of Sabrina Shirazi in collaboration with performance makers Clerke and Joy and designer/maker Annelies Henny.

AFFIX explores the combination of fine art textiles and performance. This project has produced a visually intriguing and wholly interactive range of fun activities. With the aide of 3D objects and affixable vests participants at Ausform Microfest found ways to play and open up communication about creativity.

Thanks to an Arts Council England Grant for the Arts the AFFIX Interactive Playcube will be back in Bristol and bigger than ever with a brand new structure! The structure is a large cube, partially clad in tactile quilted panels which 500 upholstered foam shapes and 50 Velcro vests can be attached to. These will be available to you to go wild with: to create, make and play with. One of the walls will have a white backdrop for portraits for photography.

We will be unveiling the new AFFIX Interactive Playcube at the Bristol Old Vic during the October half term as part of the Bristol Family Arts Festival & will also be at The Station in November as part of the Creative Youth Network‘s work engaging with young people.

Dates to catch AFFIX this autumn:

AFFIX Interactive Playcube at Bristol Old Vic
October 28 – November 1 2014

AFFIX Interactive Playcube at The Station (Creative Youth Network)
November 7 – 8 & 10 2014

We can’t wait to see what happens with the AFFIX and what amazing creations are made – we’ll look forward to seeing you there & bring along some friends or family to get the most out of the creative space (and fun)!

You can check out Sabrina’s website and lovely blog which documents the progression of AFFIX with images.
