Introducing: 70/30 Split – Platform Artist Spring 2013

“Catch this razor sharp pair whilst you can!” : Introducing Platform Artists 70/30 Split

Hello Bristol!

We are 70/30 Split. Lydia and Sophie. Two women who perform.

We studied together at York St John University and found ourselves inspired by each other’s approach to performance making.
We were both invited back to our university to create a new work for the Create 12 Festival. The result was our ongoing collaboration 70/30 Split – a female performance duo.

We are bringing our piece Content part 1: (2012) to the Ausform Platform. It’s been performed round the country at lots of places including Leeds Light Night, Heads Up! at Dancebase Edinburgh and Resolution! at The Place, London.

We present accumulations of words, thoughts, characters, expectations, stories, experiences and alternatives. We use movement, text, honesty and leotards!
We combine burlesque bodies and the bizarre. This has led us to create works that sit between dance and live theatre work, providing a accessible social commentary.

‘Keep an eye out for… the delectably cheeky; York based post-modernists Sophie Unwin and Lydia Cottrell, aka 70/30 Split, who’s Content Part 1: was a complete giggle.’  – Donald Hutera, Dance Europe.
