So, there will be a Knitting Festival in 2012 in Farnham Maltings…

Contact: Amy

Farnham Maltings invites proposals from artists and makers for a £400 yarn related mini commission to be exhibited at unravel………..a festival of knitting 2012.

unravel is an annual event held at Farnham Maltings which enables experienced knitters and novices to indulge in two days of all things woollen.  Activities include over 60 stands from independent yarn producers and leading professionals giving talks, workshops and demonstrations amongst others.

Farnham Maltings is a collection of buildings set in the heart of Farnham that provides a place in which people can imagine, create and discover.

We wish to commission a yarn related installation to enhance the festival and animate the building.   The work may be installed inside or outside the Maltings building. The commission is open to applicants from all creative disciplines.

Previous commissions have included knitted lampshades and coverings for the foyer pillars.

Applicants should submit:

  • an A4 written proposal for the installation
  • images and/or diagrams where appropriate
  • A personal CV

The deadline for applications is 3 October 2011, with short listing and selection by 10 October 2011. Applicants should be aware that the commission must be completed for installation no later than 6 February 2012.
